Census of Agriculture and Fisheries 2012

The dataset contains the characteristics of parcels planted with permanent crops on January to December 2012.

Permanent crops, on the other hand, are crops with more than one year growing cycle. Examples of these crops are mango, banana, jackfruit, coconut, coffee, abaca and "piña" for fiber purposes.

The dataset contains the characteristics of parcels with temporary crops planted anytime from January to Decmber 2012, such as number and area of parcel.

Temporary crops are crops with less than one year growing cycle. Examples are "palay", corn, rootcrops (e.g. sweet potato and cassava), and vegetables (e.g. squash, string beans, cabbage and mushroom). In the Philippines, some temporary crops grow for more than a year such as strawberries, pineapple, sugarcane, “siling labuyo” and eggplant.

The dataset contains information on the characteristics of aquaculture operation including the legal form of organization, number and area of aquafarms by type of aquafarm. It also includes data on selected socio-demographic characteristics of the operator (e.g. sex, age, and highest grade completed).

The dataset contains information on the characteristics of aquafarm for each type of aquafarm, such as area or volume of aquafarm, water environment and kind of species cultured.

The dataset contains information on the characteristics of fishing operation including the legal form of organization and number of boats/vessels used . It also includes data on selected socio-demographic characteristics of the operator (e.g. sex, age, and highest grade completed).

The dataset contains information on the characteristics of boats used by fishing operators such type of boat, gross tonnage, and ownership.

The dataset contains information on the number and type of fishing gears/accessories/devices used by fishing operators.

The dataset contains information on the characteristics of the holding reared and tended with kinds of livestock or other animals including work animals on January to December 2012.

Livestock are domesticated animals with four legs kept or reared in captivity mainly for agricultural purposes. This includes carabao, cattle, sheep, goats, horses and swine.

The dataset contains information on the characteristics of the holding reared with kinds of poultry on January to December 2012.

Poultry is a collective term for all domesticated avian kept or reared in captivity mainly for agricultural purposes. This includes chickens, ducks, quail, geese, turkey, pigeon and ostrich.

The dataset contains the presence/availability of facilities, input dealers, and service providers related to agriculture, aquaculture, and fisheries in all barangays nationwide. It also includes information on the occurrence of destructive natural calamities in the barangay in the past five years.

The dataset contains information on the characteristics of the holding such as legal form of organization, total number of parcels, total physical area of all the parcels comprising the holding, and type of agricultural activities, i.e. growing of crops, raising of livestock and/or poultry, raising of breeder dogs for sale, raising of race horses for sale, beeculture/honey production, vermiculture/earthworm culture, sericulture/silk/cocoon production, contract growing of trees, orchid growing for sale, ornamental and flower gardening for sale (excluding orchid) and others. It also includes selected socio-demographic characteristics of the holding operator (e.g. sex, age, and highest grade completed)

A holding is any piece or pieces of land used wholly or partly for any agricultural activity (for example growing of crops and tending of livestock and poultry and other agricultural activity) and operated as one technical unit by one person alone or with others regardless of title, legal form, size or location.

The dataset contains the characteristics of the parcel such as the geographic location, physical area, tenure status, main use and presence of irrigation structure/equipment used in the parcel.
