For the economically active respondents, usual occupation refers to the kind of job or business which the respondent engaged in most of the time during the 12 months preceding the interview, such as elementary school teacher, palay farmer, medical clerk, or sari-sari store proprietor.
For the economically inactive respondents, the possible responses on usual occupation include housewife, student, pensioner, retired disabled and dependent.
For this survey, "most of the time? means six months or more. Thus, for resppondets whose activities varied during the preceding 12 months, record as her usual occupation that which she has engaged in for more than six months. However, if none of these activities lasted for more than six months, report that which had the longest duration.
