A Rural Health Unit (RHU) is a field health unit of the Department of Health providing or making accessible, under the direct supervision of at least one physician, the basic health services for a municipality. In the National Capital Region, all health centers are classified as RHUs.
A Barangay Health Station (BHS) is a peripheral health facility that delivers basic health services to a barangay with an estimated population of 5,000 and usually staffed by a midwife.
