Ask the respondent whether there were any live births that may have occurred between the two births. For example, a respondent tells you that Manuel was born in 1991 and Joel was born in 1994. Ask Q.229: “Were there any other live births between the birth of Manuel and Joel?”
If the woman tells you there was a birth after Manuel and before Joel, record “YES” in Q.229 and do the following:
1. Add that birth to the end of the pregnancy history table;
2. Correct the birth order numbers in Q.214 and draw an arrow showing the birth's proper location;
3. Ask Qs.215-229 for that birth. You also have to correct the information in Qs. 202-211.
4. Correct also the Household Questionnaire when necessary.
If, however, the woman tells you that there was no birth between Manuel and Joel, record “NO” in Q.229. Then proceed to Q.215 for the next birth or go to Q.230 if Joel is the last birth.
