Title
Wholesale Price Monitoring of Animals 2009

Study Type
Price Survey
Series Information
The Livestock Oksyon Market (LOM) monitoring, a regular activity of the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics which only cover carabao and cattle initially. The generated information from this activity are such as number of animals sold, number of animals registered for sale and number of animals sold by source of origin and destination per purpose are used as indicators. Thus, the use of the data is not maximized and this statistical activity becomes redundant. Since the LOM results have not been part of the Bureau mainstream statistics, this has recommended for its termination. To continue monitoring the wholesale prices of animals which has been part of the LOM monitoring. This has been operationalized by revising the weekly survey on wholesale price of animals under the AGMARIS-AMNEWSS system which was supposed to be implemented beginning 1977. In this survey, the respondents are traders in the livestock auction markets.

This is a revised scheme of livestock price monitoring of the AGMARIS-AMNEWSS implemented in 2005. This is called the Wholesale Price Monitoring of Animals which cover four (4) animal types by purpose and cover forty-five (45) LOMs spread in twenty-one (21) provinces.
